RHE-MEDIATION Joins Marine Shield Cluster to Boost Fight Against Water Pollution

We are proud to announce that RHE-MEDiation has officially joined the Marine Shield Cluster, a collaborative alliance of EU-funded projects dedicated to tackling water pollution through innovation, cooperation, and impact-driven action.

Coordinated by the iMERMAID project, the Marine Shield Cluster unites leading European initiatives under a shared mission to protect aquatic ecosystems through three strategic pillars:

• Advanced Monitoring
• Effective Prevention
• Innovative Remediation

By fostering knowledge exchange and operational synergy, the Cluster amplifies the impact of individual projects and accelerates the delivery of practical solutions to Europe’s water pollution challenges.

As part of this alliance, RHE-MEDiation contributes its distinctive expertise in reducing chemical pollution in the Mediterranean Sea, with a focus on:

• Long-term governance models for pollution control and prevention.
• Micro-algae-based remediation technologies, integrated into existing water and wastewater treatment systems to remove persistent pollutants such as heavy metals, pesticides, PFAS, and other "forever chemicals."
