Green Dune

GreenDune (Bluemater)
The Green Dune® Photobioreactor (PBR), developed by BLUEMATER, is an adaptive microalgae-based technology that offers an innovative solution for bioremediation of wastewater treatment by drastically reducing the space required compared to traditional tertiary and quaternary treatment systems. Unlike conventional systems that need large land areas, PBRs are compact and modular, maximizing efficiency within a smaller footprint, reducing both capital (CAPEX) and operational (OPEX) expenditures and facilitating the treatment of urban and industrial wastewater for large-scale reuse. Additionally, they can also be used for CO2 capture or microalgae culture.
The space saved from the design of the Green Dune® is especially beneficial in cities where land is limited, enabling PBRs to be incorporated into existing infrastructure or unique urban locations like rooftops. BLUEMATER's approach aims to mirror the development of photovoltaic systems (PVs) in urban spaces, which also started with spatial constraints but evolved to fit seamlessly into urban landscapes through smart design and planning. Looking ahead, BLUEMATER anticipates further innovations, such as vertically stacked PBRs and modular units, to increase space efficiency, keeping PBRs technology flexible and scalable for extensive urban wastewater treatment needs.
