Second RHE-MEDiation Demo Site Successfully Installed in Gebze, Türkiye

The GreenDune® station was successfully assembled at the Turkish demonstration site, marking an important milestone for the RHE-MEDiation project. At this location, the innovative GreenDune® photobioreactor developed by BLUEMATER SA was installed to treat wastewater that had undergone only primary treatment, including aerated sand and grease removal.

This type of effluent, while nutrient-rich and highly suitable for microalgae growth, contained elevated levels of suspended solids — presenting a distinct technical challenge. The Turkish pilot aimed to demonstrate the system’s capability to effectively address these conditions.

The objective was to prove that the GreenDune® technology could serve as a compact, efficient, and sustainable alternative to conventional activated sludge processes, replacing secondary treatment with a nature-based solution that supports circularity and improved environmental outcomes.
