Ongoing Monitoring Campaign for Water and Biomass Quality Assessment in Türkiye

3 June 2025

Since April 2025, an extensive monitoring campaign has been underway in Türkiye to assess the performance and environmental impact of the pilot system. Sampling activities are being conducted at both the inlet and outlet points, as well as across all photobioreactor (PBR) lines.

Each week, comprehensive analyses are performed to detect a wide range of chemical pollutants, including PFAS, PAHs, PCBs, phenols, pesticides, and heavy metals. These analyses are carried out at the accredited TÜBİTAK MAM laboratories, ensuring high-quality data for environmental evaluation.

In addition, nutrient levels (Total Nitrogen, Total Phosphorus), COD, TOC, Suspended Solids, chlorophyll-a, and key physicochemical parameters (such as temperature, pH, and conductivity) are measured twice per week, providing a consistent overview of system dynamics and nutrient removal performance.

Furthermore, biomass samples are collected weekly and sent to CCMR for further characterization and analysis.

This structured monitoring approach, implemented on-site in Türkiye, plays a critical role in validating system efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting long-term optimization efforts.
