RHEMEDIATION Presented at the 4th Postgraduate Student Symposium in Athens

16 June 2025

On the occasion of the 4th Postgraduate Student Symposium of the Department of Chemistry at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, EYDAP presented the RHEMEDIATION project and its activities aimed at addressing chemical pollution in the Mediterranean.

The presentation titled “Microalgae as a Nature-Based Solution for Cleaner Waters: From Wastewater Treatment Plants to the Marine Ecosystem” focused on the role of microalgae in wastewater treatment and water recovery, with particular attention to the removal of legally regulated parameters and emerging pollutants — including PFAS, pharmaceuticals, and other priority substances.

The session attracted strong interest from young researchers eager to explore how biotechnological and nature-based solutions can contribute to improving water quality and protecting marine ecosystems. This exchange represents another valuable step for RHEMEDIATION in engaging with future scientists committed to building a cleaner and more sustainable Mediterranean.
